Why this event matters

Whilst the NDIS has introduced many significant and life changing outcomes for people with disability, there is still a way to go. At times, quality is still second best to compliance and the housing market is still largely driven by providers as opposed to people with disability. We believe real progress requires more than consensus. It requires courage; to challenge long-standing assumptions and to listen to the people most affected by the systems we design. This national event is designed to provide a platform for provocative and challenging conversations that test established ways of working, push boundaries and explore new possibilities for people with disability, their families and those who support them.

Centred on lived experience

Our event centres people with disability in the conversation. Rather than focusing on industry updates, it highlights lived experiences of housing, shared primarily by people with disability and key sector advocates.

Who will attend

Our national event will bring together more than 300 in-person attendees from across Australia.

Attendees include:

People with disability, families and supporters: People with lived experience of disability and their supporters.

Housing and service providers: Disability housing providers and other support service providers.

Allied health and sector professionals: Allied health professionals, support coordinators, advocates, peak bodies and decision-makers.

“We are excited to welcome you to Melbourne and to create a space for bold, honest conversations about the future of disability housing in Australia.”

Alecia Rathbone
Chief Executive, Housing Hub
