Tenancy Matching Service

The Summer Foundation's Housing Hub team offers a tenancy matching service for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) providers.

Using our extensive experience and networks, we can help match you with the most appropriate tenants for your development.

Our team can provide you with:

  • community engagement tailored to your property
  • a shortlist of relevant candidates for your vacancy
  • a report with detailed assessment of all identified candidates
  • support and advice – from establishing matching criteria through to making offers to chosen candidates

Finding the right tenants is critical for developers hoping to maximise their investment and provide positive outcomes for people with disability.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme’s (NDIS) approach to housing has radically changed the way people with disability find housing and the way providers create and manage housing for people with disability.

Managing vacancies in disability accommodation is no longer a government responsibility and is now managed by the market.

Our approach to connecting NDIS participants and housing providers

The Summer Foundation has 3 housing connection initiatives: this Housing Hub website, a tenancy matching service and a housing options team. These have been developed to connect participants and housing providers both for existing and new housing as it becomes available.

The Housing Hub's tenancy matching service works directly with SDA providers to shape their tenant selection criteria and provide advice on developing their marketing and promotional materials. Our team advertises vacancies on behalf of providers to promote the vacancies and connect with potential future tenants.

The team uses a tailored engagement approach to connect to local networks to find potential tenants utilising our internal expertise, knowledge and established processes to match people with disability to housing options. It then assesses applicants against the provider's criteria. This is a resource-intensive service with multiple activity stages required to fill each vacancy.

Our housing options team is reaching out to people who may be eligible for SDA, to let people know about SDA and find out what they want and need in a place to live. As well as supporting people with disability to secure great housing, the information gathered through this work will be used to help the SDA market understand what SDA to build and where to build it.
