Join Us at the 16th National Disability Summit

We are pleased to be a gold sponsor of this year’s 16th Annual National Disability Sumit!

Outside of sponsoring this prestigious event, members of the Housing Hub team will be participating in important discussions about the current climate of the disability housing sector.

This year’s program features in-depth discussions, key note speeches and panel discussions on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), funding models, workforce challenges, service innovation, and policy changes, with practical tips to help providers improve service delivery and outcomes for people with disability.

You will find our Housing Outcomes Coordinator, Shanais Neilsen, contributing to the panel discussion titled, The Housing Reality Check: Moving Beyond the Current Conversation. Shanais will join other industry stakeholders to dive deep into:

  • Hidden homelessness, cost of living, and accessible housing
  • Innovative housing models: SIL, SDA and beyond
  • What can we do as service providers to tackle challenges?
  • Technology-enabled independent living
  • Practical solutions, key takeaways and the future of home and living.

Our Capacity Development Lead, Joanna Stewart, will host a key note session about NDIS-funded housing, titled From Provider-led to Participant-driven: Addressing Imbalances in SDA & Shared Support Settings.

This session will explore:

  • The structural and cultural imbalances that limit participant choice & control in Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) & shared support settings
  • What it takes to shift towards participant-driven service models, from building a culture of open feedback to supporting problem-solving as issues arise, drawing on real-world examples
  • Practical tools, insights and examples that demonstrate how improving fairness and communication benefits everyone involved, including providers.

This event caters towards NDIS service and aged care providers, sector stakeholders, community care organisations, government representatives, independent supporters, and industry leaders to explore how we can improve independence, inclusion, and participation for people with disability.

Join us there to participate in this important conversation and positively shape the future of disability services. We look forward to seeing you there!
